Why we strive to get you the quality you deserve at the price you want:*

All filaments are not created equal. A cheap no name spool of low quality plastic will, generally, not produce prints with as high quality as a high quality plastic from Colorfabb for example.

That's not to say that this is always true but more often than not the old saying "you get what you pay for" holds true for plastic as well. We stock branded name filaments that are design to be used on our machine. This ensures you are getting the best material and also quality that our machine can achieve.

We're not saying this just to promote the product we sell, it's simply just the way it is.

Desktop micro-manufacturing – Although just at home in a workshop environment, Robox has been designed so every desk can accommodate it, it looks great too! The external dimensions (370 x 340 x 240mm 14.5 x 13.4 x 9.4″) have a generous build area (210x150x100mm) – Although not as big as some, the studies we have done put over 90% of 3D printed parts well within these limits, even if you do need something bigger, the print time of large parts is prohibitive so splitting the part into smaller, easier to print sections is often wise.

Material Info

ABS as a polymer can take many forms and can be engineered to have many properties. In general, it is a strong plastic with mild flexibility (compared to PLA). Natural ABS before colorants have been added is a soft milky beige. The flexibility of ABS makes creating interlocking pieces or pin connected pieces easier to work with. It is easily sanded and machined. Notably, ABS is soluble in Acetone allowing one to weld parts together with a drop or two, or smooth and create high gloss by brushing or dipping full pieces in Acetone. Compared to PLA, it is much easier to recycle ABS.

Print lines or "Stepping"

Depending on the shape of your model and orientation on the print plate, you might see print lines, or “stepping” phenomena on your model, which is a natural artifact of 3D printing using the FDM process. The printing process creates visible stepping between layers. Support structures are generated to scaffold overhangs, which are manually removed after printing. The stepping and support structures create a coarse and sometimes rough surface.

Handling and care

This material

ABS is offered in various colors however we do not always stock all the colors so please inquire before about color options.

This is a great material to use for prototyping and perfecting your final design.

The printing process uses a 0.3 mm diameter nozzle, 1.75 mm diameter filament, 0.1 mm layer height and various% infill dependent upon your requirements.
